A family outfit doing one thing well: consistent, high-quality alfalfa for horse owners, in quantities that make sense.
Our story
Alfalfa Depot was started by horse people who couldn't find consistent forage locally and decided to supply it themselves. Today we run our depot on W Lingleville Hwy in Stephenville, supplying barns across the area with tested, barn-stored alfalfa.
We keep the product list short on purpose. Fewer products, tested every load, means the bag you buy in March feeds the same as the one you bought in October.
Sustainability
What alfalfa does for the land
Deep roots, healthy soil
Alfalfa roots run 6–15 feet down, breaking compaction and rebuilding soil structure season after season.
Fixes its own nitrogen
As a legume, alfalfa pulls nitrogen from the air, so it needs dramatically less synthetic fertilizer than grass crops.
Pollinator habitat
Flowering alfalfa stands shelter bees and beneficial insects between cuttings.
